Clinical Studies

The clinical effectiveness of Mistletoe (Viscum Album) is controversial. In order to answer these questions, a large number of clinical studies with different methodologies have been carried out in recent decades. Today, the following studies are available on Homoeopathic Mistletoe (Viscum Album)preparations: 30 prospective randomized clinical trials , 18 non-randomized prospective comparative studies , 42 retrospective comparative studies and 40 one-arm studies, If, as often happens today, only double-blind randomized controlled trials with high numbers of cases are accepted as evidence, one will not find adequate answers to many questions, even though there are now some such studies (with the restriction that double blinding does not work) Doctor or patient know whether a Mistletoe (Viscum Album) extract or a control preparation is injected, is hardly possible with subcutaneous Mistletoe (Viscum Album), since it is easily deblindable for both patient and doctor .However, those who also accept carefully conducted other types of studies - medium and small RCTs, carefully controlled comparative studies without randomized treatment allocation, cohort studies, case series - will find a wide range of interesting evidence and important clinical observations.
